Japan is steeped in history, and this tour takes you on a morning tour of world-famous Kyoto to experience one of Japan's most important historical and cultural centres. After lunch, visit nearby Nara, another historical capital and home to the towering Great Buddha of Todaiji Temple.



Nijo Castle is listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site. The historical castle was completed in 1626, which was built to provide residence for Tokugawa Shogun and as a palladium for Kyoto Imperial Palace.



Kinkaku-ji Temple, a World Heritage Site, also is known as the Golden Pavilion. The wooden architecture is covered in thin layers of pure gold and is surrounded by a beautiful lake.

For the Kyoto Imperial Palace, visitors generally require application in advance, but participants of this tour can enter only by going through a brief procedure before.



Kitano Tenmangu Shrine main hall is a designated national treasure and is famous for housing the God of scholarship. The shrine is especially great to see during the plum blossom and autumn leaf seasons.



Todai-ji Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the symbol of the Nara Period and one of the world's largest wooden structure. Its huge main hall and bronze Great Buddha are impressive to behold.



Kasuga Taisha Shrine. This Nara Period shrine is designated as a World Heritage Site. The deer of Nara Park are thought to be the shrine messengers. The tour will not enter areas requiring admission.



Nara Nagomikan is the largest souvenir shop in Nara. Enjoy yourself in this spacious shop and look for the perfect souvenir.



Others

Public transportation will be used between Osaka and Kyoto, Nara and Osaka. Seating may not be available.

Depending on the number of tour participants, transportation to be used may be other than a large bus (mid-size bus, small bus), a hired car, or a taxi.



Nijo Castle is closed on Tuesdays (or Wednesday if Tuesday is a national holiday) in January, July, August, and December. Instead, the tour will visit Ryoan-ji Temple.

Kyoto Imperial Palace is closed to the public on the following days: (Monday, Tuesday if Monday is a national holiday, and whenever there is an Imperial Household event).

Kitano Tenmangu Shrine will be the replacement, which is famous for housing the God of scholarship. This shrine's main hall is a designated national treasure.

The shrine is especially great to see during the plum blossom and autumn leaf seasons. If the closed day falls on the 25th, the tour will visit Nishi Hongan-ji Temple.

The tour may not visit Nara Nagomikan if it is closed or due to traffic conditions. Connection to Kyoto Night Tour and Kyoto Maiko Dinner are not possible due to time constraints.



You will walk from the parking lot to Todai-ji Temple (about 15 min one-way).

During the Gion Festival (Sakimatsuri, July 15 - 16), drop-off service to Karasuma Kyoto Hotel and Hotel Nikko Princess Kyoto will be unavailable due to traffic restrictions.
