Drive north to visit the Memorial of Alsace-Moselle. This museum relates the difficult times of the people who lived in the region during 3 major conflicts. Inhabitants living in this area had to change their nationality several times within a very short period of time. (Audio guide and explanations in English included) After the visit, you will have some free time for lunch in the city of Schirmeck or nearby. You will then visit the only former concentration camp in France: Struthof Camp. At the time this place was annexed by the German Third Reich. It was part of a network of nearly 70 camps. From 1941 to 1945, the KL-Natzweiler was one of the most murderous camps of the Nazi system. After the visit, you will visit Mutzig fort, Europe's biggest underground fortress built for the 1st World war. At the end of the visit, you will then be driven back to Strasbourg.
