Program details

Begin this scenic tour by cycling through the streets of the Miyagawacho geisha district. The second-largest entertainment district in Kyoto, Miyagawacho is unique in both atmosphere and architecture with traditional wooden merchant houses, machiya, lining its narrow streets. Continue pedalling to Ishibeu-koji Street, a stone-paved street that is a hidden gem to find in the heart of Gion district. The area is principally a hanamachi, an entertainment district with maiko girls and geiko women, which retains the refinement and elegance of times gone by.

Next, head over to the Yasaka Shrine, one of the most famous of all the shrines in Kyoto dedicated to a local deity, before making our way to Shirakawa River that runs through the Gion district. Lined by many cherry blossom and willow trees, the route along the river is picturesque and harks back to traditional Kyoto. We coast through the large Heian Jingu Shrine, built to commemorate the 1110th anniversary of the city’s foundation, before ending the tour at the cycle terminal in Kyoto Station.
