Program details

Just north of Funchal, on the west coast of Santana, is Queimadas Natural Park. Join us for a five hour trek along the famous levadas walkways – one of the oldest on the island. Surrounded by rich vegetation, this is a special walk that gives you a glimpse into just a small part of Madeira’s incredibly bio-diverse nature and ever-changing landscape.

Our trek makes full use of the traditional levadas system – mini-canals that crisscross the mountains transporting water from the north to the sun-parched land in the south – providing us with ideal trails to follow through the densely packed forest. Admire the landscapes change before your eyes as we pass waterfalls, soaring mountains and walk through lush green forests. This is a walk through Queimadas Natural Park where Madeira’s biodiverse flora and fauna are safely guarded, and in plentiful abundance for you to see.
