Program details

White Temple / Blue Temple / Black House / Chiang Saen / Golden Triangle / Wat Rong Khun perhaps better known to foreigners as the White Temple, is a contemporary, unconventional, privately owned, art exhibit in the style of a Buddhist temple in Chiang Rai Province, Thailand. It is owned by Chalermchai Kositpipat, who designed, constructed, and opened it to visitors in 1997.

Baan Dam or Black House is Thawan Duchanee’s artful portrayal of hell. The opaque decor and dead animals adorning each room make Duchanee's estate the complete opposite of the White Temple, the glimpse of heaven designed by his teacher Chalermchai Kositpipat. Although off the beaten track, the Black Temple is not something to be overlooked.

Blue Temple Completed only in January 2016, the temple is mostly blue and gold, and with a Lanna motif of northern Thailand. The name of the temple means dancing tiger, in homage to the plethora of tigers that used to roam the jungles of the region. The blue temple Chiang Rai is open from 6am till 7pm. At 6am it is too dark to get a nice photo as the sun doesn’t rise until 7am. and successfully took some beautiful photos.

Chiang Saen the Lanna Kingdom the ancient town of Chiang Sean, which features many temple ruins haphazardly scattered about town, the Chiang Seaen Buddha images with their fine oval faces are said to be the earliest expression of a purely Siamese sculptural style. Golden Triangle , visiting Sop Ruak, where the Ruap river converges with the mighty Mekong and the borders of Myanmar, Thailand and Laos converge. This is the apex of the Thai portion of notorious Golden Triangle, but nowadays this side of the border is less wild.
