This Total Havana Tour is a combination of three of our most popular Havana tours, showing you the best of the city in one epic full-day urban adventure! We’ll start off by learning about the various Afro-Cuban religions practiced widely in Cuba. Your local guide will walk you through parts of central Havana and into the homes of some devotees of the various religions, some of which are similar to voodoo. You’ll explore the spectacular Callejon de Hammel, a small and colourfully decorated alley in central Havana, created by local resident Salvador Gonzáles Escalona. This famous alleyway is decorated with scrap objects like bathtubs, hand pumps and pinwheels. We’ll grab a special cocktail created by Salvador’s wife, made from sparkling water, rum, honey and basil. We’ll stop into a curious local religious shop to see what curios and 'objet d'art' are sold within. We’ll grab an almendron - this is the local transport for people of Havana. They take set routes around the city and collect people as they go, and it’s a great way to experience true local life. Once we flag a car, we’ll pile in and off we go to Old Havana, near the old fort that’s now the police headquarters. We’ll wander through the labyrinth of streets of one of the oldest cities in the western hemisphere, where you’ll discover the enchanting secrets of this living museum. The original Havana Village was founded by the Spaniards in 1519; today restoration is occurring slowly, so while many of the main buildings are restored to their original glory, others have taken on their own look by being left to age naturally, virtually neglected since the Revolution triumphed more than 50 years ago. We’ll work our way through the old part of Central Havana and then through to the heart of Old Havana. Along the way, you’ll get to take in some of the city’s most iconic sights, such as the Capitolio, Gran Teatro, Parque Central, Bacardi building, Art Museum, Calle Obispo, Plaza de Armas, Plaza de la Catedral, Plaza San Francisco de Asis, Plaza Vieja, and Hotel Ambos Mundos. You’ll also enjoy a delicious local Havana lunch in a fantastic local paladar, then take a walk around the area of the central park where many locals meet to very enthusiastically (and loudly) discuss baseball, dance, chat and pass their time. We’ll then head out through the streets of Havana, in a classic American convertible car, cruising through the suburbs of Centro Habana, Miramar and Vedado, passing by points of interest such as the Malecon, the glamorous 5th Avenue in Miramar, the American "Special Interests" building, the Anti-Imperialist Square, Colon Cemetery, and the Revolution Square. We’ll end up at National Hotel to enjoy a perfect view of the city. You’ll get a short tour of this iconic building before we finish up our Total Havana Tour with an evening cocktail in the garden.
